ON THIS NIGHT : TODD RUNDGREN’S UTOPIA
UTOPIA was more of a band then a side project of Todd Rundgren’s. I have loved the band since first hearing the albums “RA” and “Oops! Wrong Planet” back in 1977. I photographed them in 1980, on Halloween night at the Capitol Theater in New Jersey, during the “Deface the Music” tour, which was somewhat of a nod to The BEATLES music.
Beatlemania outfits
The band was in full Beatlemania outfits, all dressed alike as you can see in the photos. They played all the Utopia hit’s, “Love Is the Answer”, “Caravan”, “The Road to Utopia” and “Love in Action”. That night I learned just how underrated Todd is as a guitar player, wow. Amazing show.
