ON THIS NIGHT : WHITESNAKE
Whitesnake went on to have enormous success in the late 1980’s. I photographed them very early here at Madison Square Garden in October of 1980. This version of the band had three previous members of Deep Purple in the band, David Coverdale of course, as well as Ian Paice on drums and Jon Lord on keyboards. The band were supporting their album Ready an’ Willing with the big hit “Fool for Your Loving” as well as the title cut getting a lot of radio airplay at the time. This early image here to the left of David Coverdale sliding down the mic stand has always been a favorite of mine.
