ON THIS NIGHT : ZEPHYR
Zephyr was a local Colorado band famous for once having guitarist Tommy Bolin, as well as Jock Bartley who went on to form the band Firefall. Formed in 1969 by Tommy Bolin with bassist David Givens and vocalist Candy Givens, both seen in my images here taken at the Boulder Theater on April 20, 1982. This performance was an album release party to promote the latest Zephyr album, Heartbreak.

Opening for Led Zeppelin
Tommy Bolin died tragically 5 years earlier after a successful solo career, then just 2 years after these photos were taken, Candy Givens passed away tragically, apparently found dead in a hot tub. Zephyr even opened for Led Zeppelin early on in their career. A band with many ties to the Boulder, Colorado music scene in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

4Nikators
Candy Givens, David Givens and Tommy Bolin were also founding members of long time Boulder band the Legendary 4Nikators, a band that carried on for many years with a rotating cast of Boulder musicians. Another former member of Zephyr, drummer Michael Wooten went on to play with Carole King and was a founding member of Leftover Salmon, seen here in this book.
