A word from the photographer

ON THIS NIGHT : ACOUSTIC JUNCTION

Founded in 1989 by brother’s Reed Foehl and Stewart Lewis, after relocating to Boulder from Massachusetts, the band quickly grew into a college favorite. By 1993 they had released two albums, Love It for What it Is and Surrounded by Change, both selling well over 50,000 copies, my images were used in the latter’s CD booklet and back cover. I first photographed them at the Boulder Theater when founding brother, Stewart was still in the band. He eventually left for a very successful solo career, his songs being used in Television and Films worldwide.

On tour

I photographed the band at the Fox Theatre a few times as well as on the campus of the University of Colorado. I also was asked to go on tour with the band, as a guitar tech/roadie also taking pictures here and there. We toured mainly college towns from Boulder to Chicago, Washington DC, New York City to Boston and I was amazed at the sold-out response the band got everywhere. The band (and I) were even filmed for local television in Boston. A great experience for a month, but always great to return to Boulder.

Cult following

The band continue thru the 90’s, original guitarist/mandolin player Yoshi Aono left. Multi-instrumentalist Tim Roper joined Reed Foehl, bassist Curtis Thompson and drummer Matt Coconis building their cult following, later changing the name of the band to Fool’s Progress, signing with Capricorn Records, then changing the name back to Acoustic Junction. Since then, Reed Foehl has gone on with an amazing solo career, releasing six solo albums. He has relocated out of Colorado but continues to return and play venues all over the Boulder and mountain area.
