Jethro Tull concert pictures ~ Bill O’Leary

A word from the photographer

Jethro Tull were one of the most popular rock bands of the seventies with huge classic rock radio hits “Aqualung”, “Locomotive Breath” and “Bungle in the Jungle”. This was 1980 and Jethro Tull had a new sound with their new album “A”, as well as a new cleaned up look, complete with jumpsuits.

Rocking the stage

Long-time guitarist Martin Barre rocked all night and it was good to see him still in the band. Ian Anderson was still the consummate performer regardless, commanding the stage and pulling from the past with all the familiar songs Jethro Tull is known for.

Ian Anderson

Performing with his main instrument, the flute and occasionally his acoustic guitar, he gave an amazing performance this night, a rock legend for sure. Although this was a period of transition for Jethro Tull, it was the beginning of the 1980’s and MTV and the video age was upon us….
