ON THIS NIGHT : BLEECKER STREET
Founded by long-time Boulder resident Washboard Chaz Leary, Bleecker Street’s music was a mix of acoustic, blues and country. These images were taken at the Fox Theatre while I was house photographer. Fitting right in with the roots sound so prominent in the local Boulder area music scene, they also had great success touring internationally in Germany and Japan.
Chaz eventually left for New Orleans in 2000 where his career has been nothing short of spectacular ever since, playing with Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal and John Hammond. He has opened for such legends as Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Keb Mo. His twenty-two years in the Boulder music scene will not been forgotten by those fortunate to have seen him perform there.
