A word from the photographer
ON THIS NIGHT : DOUG & THE THUGS
Another personal connection here, I first met Doug Wood when he applied for a position working with me on our “day” job. We became friends and he told me about his band, Doug & The Thugs who were playing the Fox Theatre and then asked me to come and photograph them which I did here with these images. Another perfect band for the college crowd, some originals, but mostly recognizable cover tunes to dance and groove to. They were a regular performing band at Tulagi’s right next door to the Fox Theater.
Shauna, seen here was an amazing vocalist and an important part of their sound. The band recorded an album simply titled The Thugs, on which I did the photography and layout for, we took some nice demo photos for the CD packaging up in the mountains just west of Boulder. Lead guitarist James Hambleton was an owner at the Fox Theatre coincidently. Soon after, the band decided to change their name to Neked, as in naked. I believe Doug no longer wanted the spotlight on him.
