ON THIS NIGHT : THE B-52s
The B-52’s were a new wave band from Athens, Georgia (US) who I was not too familiar with at the time other than their song “Rock Lobster” which I had heard on the radio occasionally. These images are from a show at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey that I photographed in November of 1980 while they were on the Wild Planet tour. The productions lighting was very minimal at this show so unfortunately I was forced to use a flash, not by my choice of course.
Bee-hive
Vocalist Fred Schneider was very quirky with his delivery, and the contrasting vocals of Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, both with their signature “bee-hive” hair-doo’s, were great to listen to and watch. The music was very upbeat and interesting as they made their way thru the set playing “Rock Lobster” and many older songs of course, but also “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”, the latter becoming a big radio hit I remember.
