ON THIS NIGHT : VANDENBERG
When I first heard the debut album by Vandenberg in 1982, I immediately was impressed and thought that they sounded very similar to the Michael Schenker Group, which I loved. Adrian Vandenberg’s guitar playing was amazing and I had always loved that European style and sound. The band’s biggest hit was off the debut album, a track called “Burning Heart”, the video which also could be seen on the “new” cable channel MTV.
Opening for Kiss in 1984
This night Vandenberg were opening for Kiss in 1984 on their second album, Heading for A Storm and subsequent tour. They rocked material from both of their albums in a quick opening set that was probably their last in America, as shortly after the band broke up with Adrian Vandenberg accepting a full time gig with the band Whitesnake in 1987. I was very happy to get photographs of such an amazing guitarist early in his career.
