A word from the photographer
ON THIS NIGHT : THE BABYS
I first heard The Baby’s back in 1977 when my then girlfriend played me the song “Isn’t It Time” which I remember having a very emotional sounding melody, I loved it. These images were taken on February 6, 1980 on their Union Jacks tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
High energy rock n’ roll
They rocked the Garden with the new single “Back on My Feet Again”, and “Every Time I Think of You” as well as the aforementioned “Isn’t It Time”. High energy rock n’ roll was the order of the night and the song “Midnight Rendezvous” was a prime example.
Original line up
The band included vocalist John Waite, who would go solo and have huge success after the band broke up one year later in 1981, also new members Ricky Phillips who would later join Styx for many years, and of course Jonathan Cain who would go on to join Journey and have enormous success with them. Original members Tony Brock (drums) and Wally Stocker (guitar) would go on to play with Rod Stewart and Elton John. These images show another example of musicians early in their careers who went on to great success’s.
