Live music images from the Pit
During the 1980s the California concert photographer grew up in the Manhattan Beach area and was attracted by the energy and adrenaline of the punk rock scene. The first gallery to illustrate some of his work is of the punk rock band the Misfits.
Minor Threat
After taking a photography course and with a Minolta 35mm he went to several often chaotic gigs at venues such as Whiskey a Go-Go and Mi Casita. Here the hardcore punk band Minor Threat are captured from the stage area.
Black flag
All the images in the photographers portfolio were taken in analog and developed by utilising his home made darkroom. They offer a very rare and unique insight into the American punk rock scene in the 1980s. Here one of the first hardcore punk bands Black flag are photographed at various gigs in the California area.
Stage and pit photography
The final gallery from this concert photographer starts with a quote he gave when being interviewed in 2020 at his first exhibition. “These are photos from a fan’s perspective, not a professional. I was a fan, I loved the music, I loved the scene.” The first image is of Descendents followed by Dead Kennedys and the last image is of Circle Jerks.
