The Byron Bay Bluesfest 2018
Since 1990 the annual Byron Bay Bluesfest takes place over the Easter weekend in the Byron Bay area of Australia. With its great organisation ,huge crowds and an exciting line up of both Australian and International artists the festival regularly wins awards.

The festival opens with the traditional ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony that acknowledges the traditional owners of the land that is used for the event.

Australian artists
Each year there are many established and up and coming Australian artists that take to the stage . “Tash Sultana” the self-taught multi-instrumentalist delighted the crowd with her expressive energy and killer acoustics.
Harts
Offering a dynamic stage performance was “Darren Hart” from the Melbourne band “Harts”.
John Butler Trio
Taking to the stage for an incredible 13th time were the hugely popular Australian Roots / Rock band “John Butler Trio”
The Wailers Band
Performing four times at the festival and playing a different Bob Marley album each time were Bob Marley’s original band “The Wailers”.
Con Brio
The American band “Con Brio” entertained the huge crowds with their energetic set. The bands lead vocalist “Ziek McCarter” showed off his impressive dance moves as well as his great singing.
Canned Heat
Having originally played at Woodstock and at most major musical events by the end of the 1960s its great to see the American Blues and Boogie Rock band “Canned Heat” ‘on the road again’.
Jimmy Cliff
The legendary “Jimmy Cliff” brought his famous Ska and Reggae hits to the huge Crossroads Stage.
Ms. Lauryn Hill
Making a slightly delayed entrance but still giving an excellent performance was the American singer Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Harry Manx
Offering a unique blend of Indian folk melodies coupled with classical music and slide guitar blues was the Canadian musician “Harry Manx”.
Michael Franti and Spearhead
Often seen amongst the crowd and at local communities was the ever-popular Bluesfest regular, “Michael Franti and Spearhead”
Eric Gales
For the his second year in a row the guitar master, “Eric Gales” blazed his way onto the Jambalaya stage for a blinding set of Hendrix-style guitar frenzy.

Seal
“Seal” was another huge drawcard, with his smooth charm and world-famous hits.
Dumpstaphunk
Playing their funky grooves of New Orleans three times during the festival were “Dumpstaphunk“.At the end of one set they were joined by “Lukas Nelson” (son of Willie Nelson) for a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ramble On’.
Walter Trout
Emphasising the true meaning of the Blues was “Walter Trout” .He took the audience on his own painful life journey through his music, demonstrating that anything is possible with support, love and perseverance.
Chic and Nile Rodgers
“Chic featuring Nile Rodgers” gave a super polished act, performing signature songs written for the likes of Madonna, David Bowie and Sister Sledge.
