The Broken View in concert ~ Erin Farnsworth

From their formation

Since their formation, they have toured what would now be three times, with their most recent run being the Ordinary Love Tour Part Two—a tour that, according to Austin, has been his favorite so far. While reminiscing on the experience, Kranick shared a memorable moment from their show in Memphis, where, despite having only twenty people in the crowd, the energy felt like performing for 20,000. He talked about how it wasn’t just the audience that made this tour so special—it was the strength of their crew. “I was able to feel really confident that even if things were not going exactly perfect, everything would be okay,” said Kranick, while feeling the underlying support the band has received.

The tour

The tour kicked off in Dallas, Texas, and fittingly concluded with a homecoming show in Austin. Their final performance was a huge hit with glowing smiles and screams of excitement coming from the audience. There was not a single moment where the crowd wasn’t singing back to the band, taking in every single lyric that was sung. The Broken View consistently delivers performances full of life and infectious energy that brings the whole venue full of people together, we become a family. “We’re just people”, as Austin humbly put it, yet their ability to foster such a communal atmosphere speaks volumes.

Intimate acoustic

They started their set with fan-favorite `Ordinary Love` and closed on a high note with `Something Better`. Midway through, they surprised the crowd with an intimate acoustic set that left everyone speechless. Each song was filled with love and a vibrant energy that engulfed the room. The Broken View demonstrated not only their musical talent but also their dedication to connecting with listeners. Even when Kranick joked about needing to mark certain songs with stars to remember when to sing them, they still managed to play each chord to perfection, bringing a flawless performance. If there is one word that defines The Broken View, it’s dedication.

A word with the Photographer

During a conversation after the show, I asked both Austin and Tyler what advice they’d share with someone just starting out in the music industry. True to form, their responses were thoughtful and inspiring. Kranick made a point in saying, “you have to love what you do, and you have to put every ounce of yourself into it.” He also shared advice that has stuck with him: if you’re not writing honestly, then you shouldn’t be writing at all. “You’re never going to see anything but the dark side of life if you refuse to acknowledge that the light is always there,” he added—a sentiment that clearly informs their song writing

Ordinary Love

We also discussed the creation of their album Ordinary Love and what their music means to them. Hayes mentioned how their songs had a very personal effect on both him and Austin, allowing them to relate without needing words. For Kranick, the goal is simple yet profound: “you want to connect with people on a real level.” Excitingly, Austin revealed that new music is definitely in the works. He and Tyler spent time during the tour discussing standout tracks, specifically one that unanimously has been a hit by everyone who’s heard it so far. Fans have every reason to look forward to what’s next.

Shared dreams

As someone who has not only been a fan, but a friend to The Broken View, I can say in full confidence that they are destined for great things. They carry shared dreams and values that resonate in today’s world—dreams they’re eager to share. Tyler even brought up one of their biggest goals: to one day play stadiums. On the path they’re currently on, that dream is not far out of reach. “I can’t wait to take that next step,” Kranick said.

Their Austin show

For The Broken View, music is more than a career; as Austin described it, “it’s like a self healing thing.” They channel everything they feel into their music and it resonates with so many people. It brings everyone together, which is what I think is so special about the band, and that is exactly what they did at their Austin show. If there is one lesson The Broken View imparts, it’s that you can do anything and everything if you want it badly enough.
