A word from the Photographer
Tonight the AFAS Live was all about sadness, love and emotion. Mike Shinoda is central. After the sudden death of soulmate Chester Benningfield, the heart was torn from Linkin Park. After a hard time and taking a rest, Mike picked up the thread and vented his heart on the new album “Post Traumatic”. Mike has been working on a musical audiobook we witnessed tonight. Emotional musical sounds of hope with a strong load of sadness.
The set list
This doesn’t feel like a concert, but this is being together; an evening with anecdotes, solid songs, strong and striking rap texts. The set list was about Linkin Park, Fort Minor and his solo album from 2018; “Post Traumatic”. A mix of three eras. An exception to the rule is the song “It’s goin Down” from 2002 of “X-Executioners” of which Mike was a part off.
Keeping it together
Mike sang, played on the keyboards and guitar and it was noticeable that he was impressed by the audience that as one man the songs sang word for word. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington’s life and death were openly honored. “Prove You Wrong” a new song but which was not released on the new album was played “by exception” according to Mike. And that Mike tries to give the pain a place is the statement of the new album the song “Hold It Together”, telling the phrase “” I’m just trying to keep my sh-t together. “
