ON THIS NIGHT : DEL AMITRI
Another band that I had not previously heard of prior to photographing them at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado was Del Amitri from Scotland. They were touring in support of their third album, Change Everything which would become their biggest selling album with a great single, Always the Last to Know.
Change Everything
Two other great songs from this album that were performed on this night, “Just Like a Man” and “Be my Downfall”. I remember this being a fantastic night of good ole’ rock n’ roll and enjoying a band on stage I had not known prior.
A new fan
Bassist Justin Currie was the founding member of the band, he was also the lead vocalist and had a great onstage persona. Guitarist Iain Harvie was a great player and I remember loving the sound of his vintage Gibson Les Paul. Del Amitri never achieved huge success in America again, although they would continue to do so in the UK for many years to come. Yet another performance where I would come away a fan…
